Most brands are not consistently recommended when buyers ask AI who to pick.

AI visibility is no longer a “nice to have.” Buyers are asking ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini for shortlists, comparisons, and recommendations before they ever visit a website.

SoaRank runs free AI visibility checks to understand how often brands show up in real AI-engine answers — and how often they get skipped.

The pattern is clear: many brands are still under-built for GEO.

They may rank in search. They may have a decent website. But when AI engines are asked who to trust, who to compare, or who to choose, many brands are missing from the answer.

Methodology

SoaRank’s free AI visibility check measures brand visibility across real AI-engine queries on ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini.

Each check evaluates Share of Answer, competitor mentions, answer accuracy, source visibility, and AI-readiness signals using SoaRank’s 47-point audit framework.

Brands are scored using the SoaRank Score, a 0–100 measure of AI visibility and readiness across six tiers.

Key findings

1. “Many brands have low or inconsistent Share of Answer across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini.”

Most brands are not showing up often enough when AI engines answer buyer-style questions. That means competitors, directories, review sites, and third-party sources are shaping the conversation before the brand gets a word in.

2. “Brands with stronger third-party proof are easier for AI engines to understand and trust.”

AI engines do not rely only on a brand’s own website. They pull from sources they can verify: curated lists, directories, publisher pages, structured profiles, and other external references. Brands with more receipts are easier for AI to trust.

3. “AI-readiness gaps can block or weaken visibility.”

The most common gaps are often fixable visibility problems: missing or weak source pages, limited index coverage, unclear positioning, thin comparison content, and weak third-party validation.

What this means

AI engines are becoming a new discovery layer.

If your brand is not visible there, you are not just missing traffic. You are missing consideration.

GEO is the work of making your brand easier for AI engines to find, understand, trust, and recommend.

That starts with knowing where you stand.
